The National Lacrosse League begins the 2007 season NLL Awards announcements today with the announcement of the Sportsmanship Award. This season's award goes to Calgary Roughnecks captain Tracey Kelusky. The veteran played in all sixteen regular season games for the Roughnecks this season, tallying 88 points on 35 goals and 53 assists. Kelusky's leadership and performance helped lead Calgary to a 9-7 record in 2007 and to their fifth consecutive playoff berth.

Kelusky finished second on the Roughnecks in goals (35) assists (53) and points (88) this season and was not assessed a single penalty all season. Kelusky and the Roughnecks offense scored a league second best 219 goals this season as the team went on to finish second in the Western Division with a 9-7 record.

The Sportsmanship Award is given to the player who shows great leadership, character and above all sportsmanship throughout the season. Previous winners of the award include; Sean Greenhalgh in 2006, Gary Gait in 2004 & 2005, Peter Lough in 2004 (co-winner with Gait), Chris Driscoll in 2003 and Jim Veltman in 2002. The award winners are chosen by a vote of league coaches, general managers, and executives.

The award announcements continue on Tuesday when the league will announce the Defensive Player of the Year Award (for a defenseman, non-goaltender) and the Transition Player of the Year Award. The Defensive Player of the Year Award was won by Brodie Merrill of the Portland LumberJax last season. The Transition Player of the Year Award is new for 2007.
