BLAZERS & KNIGHTHAWKS SWAP DEFENDERS

Boston ships vet Laverty to Rochester for 24-year-old Reid

07/29/2008

The expansion Boston Blazers dealt veteran defenseman Kyle Laverty to the Rochester Knighthawks in exchange for defenseman Jack Reid on Tuesday.

The Blazers acquired Laverty from the Buffalo Bandits in last week's Expansion Draft. The 28-year-old defender has scooped 484 loose balls in 118 career games over eight seasons in the NLL. He has played the last five seasons in Buffalo, where he helped the team secure Champion's Cup Final berths in 2006 and 2008.

Reid, a Clastonbury, Connecticut native and a product of UMass, has scooped 53 loose balls in 16 games over two seasons for the Knighthawks. The 24-year-old defenseman is regarded as one of the top up-and-coming players in the NLL today.
