Shannon's late heroics help Philadelphia pull upset

The Philadelphia Wings topped the Buffalo Bandits, 13-11, at Wachovia Center on Friday. The Wings trailed, 10-8, early into the fourth quarter, but outscored the defending champs 5-1 the rest of the way.

With under four minutes remaining, AJ Shannon was the hero, scoring back-to-back goals (including the game-winner) to put Buffalo away.

Mat Giles and Drew Westervelt scored three goals each, while Shannon finished with two goals and three assists. Merrick Thomson, David Mitchell, Taylor Wray, Benson Erwin and Rob Van Beek added singles.

Brandon Miller recorded 34 saves in the win.

Mark Steenhuis, Sean Greenhalgh and Kevin Dostie scored two goals each for Buffalo. Mike Thompson made 41 saves in the loss.

Philadelphia (2-3) meets the New York Titans on Sunday at Prudential Center. Buffalo (5-1) hosts the Toronto Rock on February 14th at HSBC Arena.
