TEAMS TO DRESS TWO EXTRA PLAYERS PER GAME

Teams will play with 18 runners (up from 16) and two goaltenders

06/24/2010

The National Lacrosse League's Board of Governors have approved a rule change that will allow teams to dress an additional two runners per game, increasing the total to 18. The change takes effect for the upcoming 2011 season. Runners are non-goaltenders (forwards, transition players & defensemen).

Teams will continue to dress two goaltenders per game, meaning each team will dress a maximum of 20 players per contest. The size of each team's active roster will remain at 23 players. The number of players a team can place on the floor at once (six) wil not change.

Summary

2010: Teams dressed 16 runners and two goaltenders, total of 18 players

2011: Teams will dress 18 runners and two goaltenders, total of 20 players
