The National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft is now complete. The expansion Edmonton Rush selected Rory Glaves with the first overall pick. Glaves, a 23-year old defenseman from Victoria, British Columbia, comes off a promising rookie season in which he played in 15 of Anaheim's 16 games. The defenseman was voted to the league's All-Rookie Team, recieving the most votes of any rookie defenseman last season. With the second selection, the expansion Portland LumberJax selected All-Star forward Casey Powell. San Jose selected goaltender Matt Roik with the third selection, and Minnesota picked up defenseman Bruce Murray with the fourth pick.As teams drafted players, they also had to release a player to make room on their 23-man roster.
